Both א and ב were accepted. The imaging shows a severe cochleovestibular malformation on the left - cochlear/labyrinthine aplasia or a narrow internal auditory canal with cochlear nerve aplasia - in which implantation of that ear is either NOT POSSIBLE (no cochlear lumen or no cochlear nerve) or, where a rudimentary nerve exists, possible but with clearly POORER auditory outcomes than a normal ear, so an auditory brainstem implant may be discussed. What the imaging does show is enough to counsel the parents; the risk in this setting is of an aberrant facial nerve and limited benefit rather than simply a CSF gusher (which is the hallmark of incomplete partition type III).
