Laryngeal amyloidosis most often involves the VENTRICLE and false cords (the supraglottis), followed by the subglottis and true cords, appearing as a smooth, firm, orange-yellow submucosal swelling; the epiglottis and postcricoid region are affected less often. It is usually localised (AL type) rather than part of systemic amyloidosis, but systemic disease and plasma cell dyscrasia should be excluded, and management is conservative endoscopic debulking, since recurrence is common and radical resection unhelpful.
