ILVEN is characterised by lesions that are STABLE/persistent once they appear, pursuing a chronic course resistant to treatment. It is intensely PRURITIC (not asymptomatic - that is the keratinocytic epidermal naevus), it is UNILATERAL and linear along Blaschko lines (not bilateral and symmetrical), and it appears in EARLY CHILDHOOD, usually within the first years of life, rather than after puberty.
